Built on lush hilly terrain, high above the Urubamba River, Machu Picchu is located in one of the most stunning views of any archaeological site in the world. This ancient Inca city cascaded down steep walls on each side of the mountain, with steps disappearing on the cliffs of the cliffs below. These incredible ruins have been very well restored and maintained, giving visitors a glimpse of what the city could have looked like when it was occupied in the 15th and 16th centuries.
